Anti HCV lab test is not 100 percent accurate as 1 out of 5 people who get a positive test result do not have hepatitis C virus infection.
Does a negative anti HCV lab test result rule out hepatitis C virus infection?
A negative anti HCV lab test result does not rule out hepatitis C virus infection as getting this test done very early in the course of the disease will yield a negative result even if you are infected hepatitis C virus infection.

You can get this test done at anytime of the day.
Positive (reactive) test result means that you have been infected with hepatitis C virus.
Negative (non-reactive) test result means that your blood does not have antibodies against the hepatitis C virus.
