This drug is used for the inhibition of intra-operative miosis (during eye surgeries). It is is also indicated for the prevention and treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery and reduction in risk of macular oedema associated with cataract surgery in diabetic patients
Patients using this medicine may experience capsular opacity (clouding of eye), decreased visual acuity (worsening of eyesight), foreign body sensation and/or sticky sensation. Temporary stinging, punctate keratitis (disorder of the superficial layer of eye) , blurred vision, eye irritation. Corneal epithelial breakdown including perforation (thinning and penetration of epithelial lining of eye) (discontinue in this case)

Please avoid driving when taking this medicine as it may affect your ability to drive.
Precautions
Please consult your doctor if you have an acute eye infection, as the symptoms may be masked by the use of this topical NSAID. Avoid exposing eyes to direct sunlight during treatment. Caution is advised in cases of complicated eye surgeries, corneal (transparent layer of eye) disorders, rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune disorder), repeated surgery within short time periods and a tendency to bleed.
This medicine should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to either the active substance or its excipients, or to any other NSAID or Aspirin. It should also avoided in cases of Herpes Simplex Keratitis (Viral eye infection)
What are the uses of Nepafenac?
This medication is used for treatment of eye pain, irritation, and redness mostly after cataract surgery (surgery involving the eye lens). It helps reduce pain and swelling.
How to store Nepafenac?
Please store this medicine at room temperature (20-25 Celsius) or low temperature (below 10 C) depending on the medicine type and manufacturer. Keep medicine away from excessive light, moisture, and children. Please do not flush medicines down the toilet. Please read the leaflet provided with the medicine for further storage guidance.
Do I need to cover my eyes following cataract surgery?
You may be asked to wear sun glasses or avoid sun exposure for some time following cataract surgery. For further guidance, consult your healthcare provider.
Will this medicine affect my vision?
You may be required to close your eyes for 10-15 after using this medicine so tasks like driving should be avoided immediately after use. Rarely does this medicine cause vision changes.
Does Nepafenac have any effect on pregnancy and lactation?
This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if no safer alternate is available. It may be contraindicated in the first and last trimester. Consult your healthcare provider before use of this medicine. The effects of this medicine on lactating mothers are unknown. Consult your health care provider before use of this medicine.
