Tenormin tablets contain atenolol in it which is a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers are class of medications that are meant for reducing blood pressure. They act by blocking the effect of natural hormone in the body i.e. epinephrine/adrenaline. Therefore, Tenormin tablets are used for effectively treating conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure), arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), & angina (heart-related chest pain). It is also indicated in prevention of future heart attacks, strokes & migraines.
Its side effects occur for a short period & are mild. Side effects like fatigue, dizziness, diarrhea (loose motion), nausea, & slow heart rate can occur. Some people can also have low blood pressure & shortness of breath (SOB). Consult doctor/pharmacist if condition worsens.

Can you use 2 atenolol 50mg tablets in a day?
Atenolol can be taken once or twice in a day as prescribed by the doctor or pharmacist. Preferred is to take at nighttime as tablet can make you dizzy
How soon does Tenormin start working?
Tenormin starts working within 2 to 4 hours of taking the dose, however, you start seeing results after one or two weeks
How to properly take Tenormin tablet?
Tenormin should be taken with water either before or after a meal. However, apple juice & orange juice tend to prevent body from absorbing atenolol so avoid drinking them
Which foods to avoid with beta blockers?
Avoid eating too much potassium which can be found in bananas, papaya, avocado, tomato & kale.

Precautions
Tenormin together with other beta blockers shouldn’t be used in conditions like cardiogenic shock, uncontrolled heart failure, sick sinus syndrome (inability of heart's natural pacemaker to create heart rate), metabolic acidosis (serious electrolyte disorder), second or third degree heart block, untreated pheochromocytoma (rare noncancerous tumor in adrenal gland), hypotension, bradycardia (decrease heart rate), & severe peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances. Inform doctor of its use before going for any surgery. Inform doctor of all medicines whether over the counter (like vitamins or herbal supplements etc.) or prescription medicines like calcium channel blockers (verapamil or diltiazem), dihydropyridines, digitalis glycosides, anti-arrhythmic medicines, insulin, or oral antidiabetic medicines etc. and various other medications, before using Tenormin tablet. Tenormin tablets should not be used in pregnant females & lactating mothers as it is unsafe. Not for use in children
