Contradications
This medication is contraindicated in the case of narrow angle glaucoma (increased eye pressure in eye).
Side effects
The patient taking this medication may experience somnolence (sleepiness), weight gain, increased appetite, dizziness, peripheral edema (swelling of your legs or hands), leucopenia (decrease in the count of leucocytes), fatigue, orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure that occurs when moving from a laying down position to a standing position). The patient also may experience raised prolactin, glucose, triglyceride, and cholesterol.
Expert Advice
This medication can be taken with or without meals. The tablet is to be placed on the tongue without breaking it and letting it dissolve with the saliva. Take sufficient amounts of fluids (2-3 liters per day) to maintain hydration.
Avoid taking alcohol, smoking and caffeine during therapy. During therapy change position slowly from sitting or lying to standing.
