This medicine is used for constipation (difficulty in passing stool) and hyperacidity (a condition in which the amount of acid in gastric juice, the stomach juice is more than normal).
Contradications
This medicine is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to it, in patients with hiatal hernia (when your stomach bulges up into your chest), intestinal blockage, difficulty in swallowing, appendicitis (inflammation of appendix), bedridden patients etc.
Side effects
Granulomatous reactions (inflammatory response), anal seepage (anal leakage, the accidental passsing of stool) and irritation, altered absorption of fat soluble vitamins are some of its side effects. It may rarely cause lipoid pneumonia (a rare disease when oil or fat enters the lungs).
