ispaghula-husk
This drug is given in diverticular disease (causing abdominal pain due to development of an abnormal sac in the colon), spastic and irritable colon. It can also be given to treat constipation due to insufficent fiber.
Contradications
This medicine should not be given to patients who have intestinal obstruction, colonic atony (loss of muscle strength in colon), reduced GI motility, fecal impaction, and phenulketonuria (inability to metabolize phenylaline which can cause brain and nerve damage).

Side effects of ispaghula husk include:
