- Allergy to sulfonylurea or sulphonamides
- Type I diabetes

- lactic acidosis (buildup of Lactate in body causing acidity)
- malnourished or debilitated patients
- adrenal insufficiency
- severe lung dysfunction
- hypoxemia (decreased concentration of oxygen in blood)
- dehydration
- congestive heart failure.
