gentamicin
This medication is used in the treatment of infected skin like impetigo (red sores on the face), skin ulcers (open sore caused by poor blood flow), burns, folliculitis (inflammation and infection in the hair follicles), and wounds.
Contradications
This medication is contraindicated in patients that are allergic to aminoglycosides (type of antibiotic). There are no known disease contraindications.
Side effects
Patients administered with this medication may experience skin irritation, redness, and itching. Rarely, a very serious allergic reaction to it may occur which is characterized by rash (change in color and texture of skin), itching and swelling especially of face; tongue; throat, severe dizziness (feeling of being sleepy), and trouble breathing.
