This medication is used for lowering blood pressure in hypertensive (increased blood pressure) patients. Lowering of blood pressure lessens the probability of heart attacks and kidney dysfunctions. It is also used for the treatment of angina.

This medicine is used in the management of angina (chest pain in the area of the heart), and hypertension ( high blood pressure).
Contradications
Patients who have sick sinus syndrome (disorder of pacemaker in heart), 2nd or 3rd degree AV block (heart disorder), uncontrolled cardiac failure (heart isn’t able to pump adequate blood in body), left ventricular failure following myocardial infarction (heart disorder), and marked bradycardia (slow heart rhythm) , should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
Side effects
Some patients might experiecne bardycardia, 1st degree AV block, ankle edema, nausea, headache, rash, flushing, hypotension, gi upset, fatigue, gingival hyperplasia, changes in liver function.
