This medication is used most commonly to treat scabies which is itching due to a mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. This organism buried into the skin can cause excessive itching in that region, leading to pus-filled blisters. This occurs most commonly on the palms of hands, soles of feet, and around the waist.

Contradications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity, acute exudative dermatitis (infection of the skin producing fluid)

Side effects

It can worsen skin irritation, leading to excessive itching. Serious allergic reactions are rare, including trouble breathing, severe dizziness.
