Cefdinir is an extended-spectrum, semisynthetic cephalosporin, which is taken orally. The medicine is effective against the most prevalent respiratory tract infections, such as Penicillin susceptible Streptococcus. pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Haemophilus influenza. Cefdinir treats bacterial infections such as Pneumonia, bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes that lead to the lungs) and infections of the skin, sinuses, tonsils, throat and ear. Cefdinir functions by killing bacteria.

How To Use

  • Cefdinir is available as a capsule and a solution (liquid) for oral use.
  • Depending on the disease being addressed, it is commonly administered with or without food every 12 or 24 hours for 5 to 10 days.
  • Cefdinir should be taken at the same time each day.
  • Do not crush or chew the capsule.
  • The capsule should be swallowed with water.
  • Follow the label instructions carefully, and if there is anything you don't understand, talk to your doctor or pharmacist to clarify it to you.
  • Cefdinir should be taken exactly as indicated. Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose.

It should be used with caution if you have kidney disease, since the medicine is removed from the body more slowly, the effects could be exacerbated. It is also necessary to take caution in patients with history of penicillin sensitivity and seizures.
