This medicine is used to treat dyspepsia (indigestion), flatulence, heartburn, peptic ulcer gastritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestine), duodenitis (inflammation of the small intestine), and nausea and vomiting.
The patients administered with this medicine may experience neuroleptic malignant syndrome (allergic reaction of medicines), raised prolactin levels leading to galactorrhea (abnormal nipple discharge), irregular periods, gynecomastia (breast enlargement in men), drowsiness, and tremors.

The patients with renal (kidney) or hepatic (liver) impairment, porphyria (liver disorder causing sun sensitivity), Parkinson’s disease (neurological disorder), atopy (genetic tendency to develop allergies), and heart abnormalities should use this medicine cautiously.
In patients with a history of recent gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation or hemorrhage, prolactin associated breast cancer, pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland disorder), epilepsy (seizures), and in neonates, this medicine is contraindicated.
