This medication is used to treat patients with fungal and gram-positive (type of bacteria) bacterial infections of the skin and nails.
The side effects of this medication include local irritation and allergic reactions.
Pregnancy

Lactation
It is not known whether this medication passes into the breast or not. Consult your doctor before using this medication.
Precautions
Avoid applying this medication near the eyes, mucous membranes, such as of the mouth, and avoid inhaling it.
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hair and nail infections, and broken skin.
What are the uses of Miconazole?
This medication is used for treating fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, jock itch, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). It can also be used to treat a skin condition known as Pityriasis (tinea versiolor) characterized by shedding of parts of skin as flaky scales.
How to take Miconazole?
Use it as prescribed by your health care provider. Make sure to complete the course of the medication. If you stop using the medicine before the prescribed time, the fungus may grow back and worsen the condition. The dosage of this medicine is dependent on the age, condition, and its severity.
How to store Miconazole?
Different brands of the medicine have different storage instructions. Keep medicine away from excessive light, moisture, and children. In case of gel form, keep medicine away from flame. Please do not flush medicines down the toilet. Please read the leaflet provided with the medicine for further storage guidance.
Will this medicine cause scars?
This medicine is unlikely to leave scars. However, scar formation is also dependent on the fungus type and the patient’s skin. For further guidance, consult your healthcare provider.
Can I use Miconazole to treat my acne?
There are several types of acne. One type of acne may be treated with Miconazole but consultation by a skin professional is must.
Does Miconazole have any effect on pregnancy and lactation?
This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if it is necessary and no safer alternate is available. The effects of this medicine on lactating mothers are unknown. Consult your health care provider before use of this medicine.
Important notes for use of Miconazole.
• Please do not share this medicine with anyone. • If you use this medicine for Pityriasis, it may take several months for the skin to grow back to its normal condition/ appearance.
